Description: Apparently this ad got banned in Canada. I can't say I see why, doesn't seem that out there at all. Maybe someone from Canadialand can fill us in.

This ad never got banned in Canada, I have seen it more than once and they don't cancel them after they have been on TV for a few weeks. Maybe the info was incorrect it got banned.

The ad was run on Canadian TV although I only saw it once. The end where the girl skinny dips wasn't in the version I saw, so maybe that's what you're referring to. As somedaynow said, if the contest wasn't actually open to Canadians then why run the ad.

Speaking as a Canadian, the long and short of why it got banned is that... we are uptight as a nation. Seriously look at our commercials, there are basically NO women in underwear or naked as the last girl in the lake is. Then the sexist/feminist side of it too, seriously the CRDR are a bunch of old repressed farts.

I have seen this add. I believe they took this off because the contest wasn't open to Canadian citizens, this and they did not show any beavers! We Canadians love to see the BEAVERS! SHOW US THE BEAVER! GO Riders GO eh,

Canada is a multi-cultural nation that prides itself on showcasing many different kinds of lifestyles and colors of people on it's television. Canadian Television stations are required to have a certain amount of french, muslim, indian, ect. ect. content on their airwaves to support this mindset.

Watch that video again, and tell me exactly how many non-white people you see. Now mix that into the idea that the commercial is crass and moronic, and probably was getting aired at the same time spoungbob was, and see what ahappens.

Canada is taking up US practice. :(
HalOfBorg replied:
So...because of all the multi-national crap, you can't have a commercial with just a few white people?? OH MY GOD - the world will end if there aren't any different races in that commercial!!!

Grow a pair. Political correctness sucks and it doesn't work. In time you'll end up with a society who can't have an opinion, can't have a favorite anything, can't even TALK to each other.

I'm white. You want to make a commercial or a show or an entire network with nothing but black people - go for it. I couldn't care less.

It was just a promo untill the Event, some go here we paid hot chicks to look good for the group photos but dont try and talk to them event. Like the Bud camps, it was a poor rip off, dont think it was banned, think it just went untill the event happened...could be wrong tho

if anything, I think men should be pissed off about this commercial more than women. Yes, women are being portrayed poorly here but has anyone stopped and considered the downright predatory nature of these commercials? Throwing tons of sexy women into a commercial and pretty much directly implying we can get laid if we buy their product? Yes, I realize anyone smart enough to tie their shoes blindfolded will know that's not accurate- but the fact remains that Axe is tossing out bait. That being said, I'm going to watch the commecial again. :)
RBK replied:
Nobody purchases the item, as you said, thinking they'd laid becaus of it unless they're seriously retarded.
alienufo replied:
@ RBK - consider how stupid the average person is. Then consider half of them are stupider than that. Those peoeple are their target demo for this product.
unominous replied:
@alienufo: I have seen exactly one person buying an Axe product. Specifically a middle-aged woman who left the product at the register because her coupon was for shampoo, not shampoo with conditioner. Maybe if they had hot guys at the cottage she would have bought it just to qualify.

I remember seeing it, I didn't realize it had been banned. I just assumed it had run its course. I imagine the feminists were outraged, I know my wife was.
RBK replied:
Bloody feminists!

This commercial aired for quite a while in the north. I'm assuming it was taken down because some stuck up feminist couldn't take a joke and complained about the whole "women are objects and need men to have fun" theme that this commercial possesses.
